Lauren Greenfield is an American documentary photographer and filmmaker. Her photos are exhibited in museums and galleries, featured in a number of high-profile magazines and she has published three books, including the popular Girl Culture. Her work touches upon a number of subjects, including a recurring theme of self-image.
Her first feature-length documentary, Thin, followed four women living at a facility for the treatment of eating disorders and was also the basis for a book of photographs. The film screened in competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and was broadcast on HBO.
Her latest feature, The Queen of Versailles, premiered at Sundance in 2012, where Greenfield received the Directing Award for U.S. Documentary. The film focuses on former Mrs. Flora, Jackie Siegel, and her husband, timeshare king David Siegel, as they create the largest single-family home in America – modelled on the palace of Versailles.
